Mocha Frosting (vegan + oil-free)
This is a super short and easy recipe! I've been wanting to make a mocha frosting recipe using avocados, since I love this chocolate avocado frosting, and I love this coffee frosting.
I used half of my chocolate cake recipe to make a little loaf cake to put this frosting on top of. It's coffee on chocolate on chocolate!
This recipe is oil-free, so you don't need any vegan butter! I used avocados as the base, because they're super thick and creamy, plus they have a pretty neutral taste. So just make sure you have a few ripe avos!
Mocha Frosting
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados
- 3/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa (I prefer dark cocoa)
- 1/4 cup syrup
- 2 Tbs instant coffee (you could experiment with espresso powder or regular coffee grounds as well)
- 1-2 Tbs agave
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Scoop out your avocados and use a beater to cream them until even and smooth. Then add in your powdered sugar and cocoa and beat slowly to prevent making a mess.
- Next, add in the syrup, vanilla, and coffee, beating until combined.
- Lastly, add in your desired amount of agave to sweeten, as well as the salt to taste. Make sure to try the frosting to see if you want to add any more of any ingredient.
- I prefer to chill my frosting, but it is totally up to you. You could use this on cake, cookies, or cupcakes, or as a dip with graham crackers. Enjoy!
