Homemade Vanilla Frosting (vegan)
This 4-ingredient frosting is super rich and creamy - it's perfect for topping cakes, cupcakes and cookies!!
What I love most about this recipe is that it tastes homemade. The flavor of the vegan "butter" lets you know that this frosting wasn't store-bought or made with a bunch of sketch ingredients. There are only four ingredients, and they create perfection!
I've used this recipe to top multiple chocolate cakes, cupcakes, and some soft sugar cookies. It seriously pairs amazingly with anything!
Homemade Vanilla Frosting
Ingredients
- 1 cup (or 2 sticks) of vegan butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Salt, to taste
Directions
- In a medium-sized bowl, beat the vegan butter until creamy and smooth. It should be a bit soft, but not so much that it feels like it's melting.
- A half a cup at a time, sift in the powdered sugar while beating on medium speed. You'll have to do this eight times, I know, but it should help prevent any possible curdling and make the frosting super smooth.
- Once all of the powdered sugar is mixed in, beat in your vanilla and add salt to taste in order to balance out any excessive sweetness.
- Scrape down the sides of your bowl and beat the frosting until it's completely mixed, then chill in the fridge for 2+ hours. Enjoy!!
